The 49er Gold Rush 5K has become a signature February tradition at UNC Charlotte. Hosted by University Recreation, the race is open to all—students, faculty and staff, alumni, and community members alike. Whether you’re racing for a personal best or just showing up for the experience, everyone’s invited to be part of the run! Net proceeds from our Annual 49er Gold Rush 5K Run/Walk will benefit the University Recreation Student Professional Development Fund. This year, our annual 49er Gold Rush 5K will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026.

Participants can choose from three registration options:
$45 → REGISTER HERE → All the Swag Package (Race Bib, Shirt, & Medal)
$35 → REGISTER HERE → Just the Shirt Package (Race Bib & Shirt)
$25 → REGISTER HERE → Just the Race Package (Race Bib Only)

Awards & Recognition
Awards will be given to the overall top three male and female finishers. In addition, the top three male and female participants in each age group will receive recognition. Age group categories include: 14 & under, 15–19, 20–24, 25–29, 30–34, 35–39, 40–44, 45–49, 50–54, 55–59, 60–64, 65–69, and 70 & up.
