The Black Foxes is an international collective of eight unapologetically Black cyclists and outdoors-people that are reclaiming their narratives and roles in the outdoors. They embody the journey of the black fox by connecting fellow riders and outdoors people, sharing their stories, and providing more representation within cycling and the outdoors.
Thee Abundance Project was designed to create a pathway for women of color to go from beginner to professional road cyclists by eliminating many of the barriers along the way. This project starts its focus with beginner-friendly initiatives to encourage women to try bike racing for the first time. The project gives grants, hosts training, and hosts camps to foster growth and community!
Whether you bike, climb, hike, or paddle, Melanin Base Camp is your own home, too. They work together to increase representation and opportunities for people of color in outdoor adventure sports. They don't shy away from sensitive topics (race and gender), but they do so in a way that creates a safe space for people with marginalized identities. Join their movement: #diversifyoutdoors!
Evolutionary Aquatics supports and promotes activities in, on, and around water for the Charlotte community using sound education to dismantle the historical lies that surround Black cultures to encourage them to reclaim their aquatic heritage. Evolutionary Aquatics was birthed from a US Masters Swimming grant given to the Mahogany Mermaids swim club in 2021!
