About Us
University Recreation functions as a part of the Health and Wellbeing Unit within the Division of Student Affairs, consisting of University Recreation, Center for Wellness Promotion, Student Health, and the Christine F. Price Center for Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS). All of these departments within the Health and Wellbeing Unit strive to assist and support students in amplifying their wellbeing journey throughout college and beyond.
The SAMHSA Dimensions of Wellness is our shared framework for Health and Wellbeing at Charlotte. Wellness isn’t just physical health or mental health, it’s multi-dimensional. It includes how we manage our emotions, build relationships, grow intellectually, care for our environment, navigate finances, explore purpose, prepare for careers, and take care of our bodies. Read more about the Dimensions of Wellness.
- The Center for Wellness Promotion (CWP) aims to equip students and the campus community with comprehensive health education and prevention strategies that build health literacy, enhance informed decision-making, and promote academic success and lifelong wellbeing.
- The Christine F. Price Center for Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) at UNC Charlotte supports the holistic wellbeing and academic success of students and contributes to a healthy and welcoming campus climate. This is accomplished by providing short-term individual and group counseling, crisis management, consultation, referral services, and educational and preventive initiatives for the campus community.
- Student Health's (SH) mission is to provide comprehensive, high-quality healthcare, outreach and health education to students regardless of insurance coverage. Student Health is accredited by The Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC). AAAHC is a leader in ambulatory (out-patient) health care accreditation. Its high standards require Student Health to maintain excellent quality of patient care.
