
Here at University Recreation, our Fitness Programs consist of over 80 weekly classes offered in a variety of formats and experience levels! Between our Group Fitness classes, Small Group classes, Lift & Learn Workshops, and Specialty Classes, participants are equipped with the fitness tools they need!
Customized Classes
Our Group Fitness program offers customized classes for members! Whether you reach out as a student group, a Charlotte Athletics team, a Sport Club, or even an individual member, we are here to make Group Fitness as accessible as possible. To request a custom class, please email Tori Lord at tori.lord@charlotte.edu.

Take your abs, back, and other core muscles to the next level with this quick 20-minute session that will make your body feeling stronger and more balanced.

Think Boot Camp, but in the water! This class will take place in the shallow end (4ft) of the UREC Pool. No swimming skills, just swimming attire required.

BodyPump without the choreography! Expect mostly muscle conditioning with some intervals of cardio drills to improve your strength using the barbell and bench.

A full-body workout inspired by ballet, pilates, yoga, and strength training using multiple props and upbeat music. Join us for a party at the barre!

BODYPUMP is a choreographed barbell class that strengthens your entire body using all your major muscle groups by using the best weight-room exercises.

Train your lower body with us! We will hit on all of the major muscle groups of the core, glutes, legs, and more in this muscular endurance class!

This class creatively blends elements of various dance styles for a fun workout that everyone can do with easy-to-follow choreography of today’s music hits!

Think of an outdoor bike ride with great music and a coach! You decide each class how much you want to challenge yourself. Take a seat and join our next ride!

Gentle yoga focuses on deep stretching and relaxation by easing you through a series of poses and flows that leave you feeling rejuvenated and refreshed!

With just one resistance band, you can capture all the postural, core, and alignment challenges that reformer work is famous for!

This class is the ultimate cardio challenge and focuses on boxing techniques using punching bags and other props! Hand wraps will be provided during this class.

Strengthen all of the major muscle groups in this class using low weights/resistance and high repetition to the beat of the music in this full body workout!

Half cycling and half strength, this class will give you both the cardio and muscle conditioning you need for your next workout!

A non-impact workout to develop strength, flexibility, core conditioning/stability, and balance with an emphasis on controlled movements and breath work.

Power yoga will take you through the elements of yoga at a faster pace, focusing on strength and balance that keeps you moving the majority of class!

Taking it back to the beginning of aerobics with this format! Join us for a great cardio endurance workout on the bench with high-energy music and instruction!

A full body workout, using High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) methods, that incorporates cardio, strength training and something new every class!

Triple threat is designed to make the most out of your exercise routine with 20 minutes of cardio, 20 minutes of strength, and 20 minutes of yoga in one class!

It's a dance party with a twist! Not only do you have a good time shaking it on the dance floor, but you’ll also strengthen your body and your confidence!

A fun dance workout featuring international rhythms that creates a party-like atmosphere! Learn international dance moves like salsa, cumbia, and more!
UREC not only offers Group Fitness classes, but also Lift & Learn workshops, Small Group classes, and last but not least: Specialty Classes.

Group Fitness Policies
- There is no late entry to any Group Fitness class five minutes after class start time due to safety reasons.
- It is recommended that participants arrive at least 5 minutes early to ensure proper setup of equipment and avoid disruption of class
- Only on the fifth-floor mind/body studio may you participate in class barefoot, with studio wraps, or in socks.
- See "General UREC Building Policies," Section G - "Participation, Attire, Equipment, & Behavior" above for general attire policies.
- Participants are encouraged to regularly monitor their own workout intensity and take water breaks frequently
- In order to ensure safety of participants, class size may be limited at the discretion of the instructor
- Wipe down equipment after use and return to designated area
- All usage of the studios must be approved by University Recreation
- For all classes, participants will be required to check-in before beginning class.
- We encourage you to sign up in advance as we want your experience to be quick and streamlined. *Signing up early does not guarantee to hold your spot for the class (ie. Cycling) as it will still be a first come, first serve basis for participation, however, sign-ups facilitate usage data for the University in order to better serve our group fitness community.
- Class sign-ups will be available 48 hours in advance of class start time.
- If you can no longer attend a class that you signed up for, please remove your sign-up by using the following steps:
- 1. Click on the link here
- 2. Log in with your Ninernet credentials
- 3. Click on the respective class
- 4. Cancel the sign-up
- No chewing gum
- All drinks/beverages should be in a resealable container
- Please make sure cell phone volume is on silent
- No photography or videography of participants without their permission
- Refunds will not be given unless there is a documented health issue or unforeseen circumstance that arises
- Communicate attendance, concerns, etc. with specified instructor
