What are Intramurals?
Intramural Sports are fun, recreational, social and competitive on-campus activities designed for UNC Charlotte students, faculty, and staff. This structured program offers individual (Free Agents) and team sport opportunities. Sports are offered in both multi-week and weekend/one-day tournaments. Individuals do not need to have experience in order to sign up for IM Sports. Intramurals provide a great opportunity for participants to have fun, try something new, and get involved on-campus. How will UREC?
Recreational Division
Geared toward individuals or teams with beginner level skills in the given sport activity. This division offers teams the chance to play in an environment founded on social networking, teamwork, and simple enjoyment of exercise. This division is for participants without extensive experience in a sport or those that enjoy the opportunity to just be part of the game. Teams in this division do not participate in a playoff tournament. Instead, each team will receive its full schedule at the beginning of the season (typically, a four- or six-game season).
Intermediate Division
Geared toward individuals or teams with moderate level skills in the given sport activity. Participants in these leagues have usually had less experience in the respective sport and/or have some or little organized playing experience. Following the regular season, the top teams in the standings will advance to a single-elimination playoff in order to crown a champion. All eligible members of the championship team will receive a UREC Intramural Sports Champ Shirt.
Competitive Division
Geared toward individuals or teams with more experience and higher skill levels in the given sport activity. Participants in these leagues usually have either participated and/or lettered in the respective sport and/or have extensive playing experience. Following the regular season, the top teams in the standings will advance to a single-elimination playoff in order to crown a champion. All eligible members of the championship team will receive a UREC Intramural Sports Champ Shirt.
